Busey Associate Jose Gomez“A piece of advice I try to live by is, ‘Don’t be sorry, be better.’ Sometimes we become too comfortable telling ourselves ‘I’m sorry I did not finish school, or had a bad relationship,’ or whatever the case and we fail to make our situation better. When I realized that my age, time away from home and difficulty balancing school, the military and work was making me feel sorry for myself and I wasn’t meeting my goals, I had to stop that process. I knew I had to become better at managing my time, communicating and fixing my determination. It was hard because I was okay for settling with less and not taking steps to fix things. I overcame it, but at times when I regress, I remind myself to be better.”
