Stimulus Check Scams

Ever vigilant against fraud, Busey reminds you to be especially alert to any suspicious or “too good to be true” communications you receive during this time. With the recent passage of the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security—or CARES—Act and subsequent stimulus checks, the U.S. Treasury Department is warning of an uptick in possible check scams.

If you receive calls, emails or other communications claiming to be from the Treasury Department and offering COVID-19 related grants or stimulus payments in exchange for personal financial information, an advanced fee or charge of any kind, please do not respond and report the fraudulent activity to the FBI at www.ic3.gov so that scammers can be tracked and stopped.

For more information on these scams, visit the Treasury Department website

Online and Mobile Banking Transfers
With increased cases of Coronavirus-related fraud and phishing attacks, Busey is committed to providing the protection you need. For the safety of your accounts and personal information, we are implementing a three-day minimum processing for online and mobile banking transfers. Funds transferred to and/or from external accounts will not be available for at least three business days to minimize the chance of fraud.
