A card compromise is theft of debit or credit card information. Most often, this occurs whenever someone gains unauthorized access to the payment processing system of a merchant or the company contracted to process payments for that merchant.
Once notified of a card compromise, Busey proactively issues new debit cards to replace compromised cards.
Q: Has my account information been stolen?
A: Only information directly listed on the impacted Debit Mastercard has been compromised. Criminals have no access to your PIN or any of your other accounts.
Q: Can my compromised Debit Mastercard be used?
A: You can still make purchases using your compromised card. In order to do so, simply process all transactions as PIN-based transactions. If you attempt a signature based payment and it is declined, please reattempt payment as a PIN-based transaction.
Q: When will I receive my new Debit Mastercard?
A: You should receive your new Debit Mastercard within 10 days of the reissue date. Please activate your new card immediately. The compromised card will be deactivated after new card activation.
Q: How do I activate my new card?
A: To activate your card, please call 1.800.672.8739 using the primary phone number on your account. If you did not give a phone number, have since changed it, or do not remember the number you gave, contact Customer Care.
You may also activate your card by making a transaction using your PIN number.
Q: Where is my PIN (personal identification number)?
A: For your privacy, a separate PIN mailer will be sent a few days after your card. This mailer includes instructions for changing your PIN. You may conveniently change your PIN at any Busey branch or Busey-owned ATM.
