among the 2020 class of 40 Under 40 by the St. Louis Business Journal.
Sandy embodies the Busey Promise through her work as a Community Banking Manager.
She creates dynamic and lasting relationships with associates, customers and community
members, furthering Busey’s mission by providing service excellence to the greater St.
Louis area, specifically in low-to-moderate income neighborhoods.
Sandy leads business development and CRA mortgage efforts in the Metro East. Her work
with the Hispanic and Spanish-speaking communities is notable, impacting the development
of TheBANK’s MyCommunity Home Loan product which has enabled more than 400 loans to
individuals that would not have otherwise qualified using traditional products. Sandy was
also instrumental in securing a banking location within the Fairmont City community library.
This branch is a truly one-of-a-kind, progressive partnership between a financial institution
and a library. The branch opened in 2015 and is the only fully bi-lingual bank in the St.
Louis market.
Considering herself a teacher at heart, Sandy is actively involved in providing financial
literacy education throughout the St. Louis region. She is passionate about helping
vulnerable populations fulfill the dream of home ownership and achieve financial success.
Nominated by peers and selected by a panel of judges based on achievements,
experiences, innovations, leadership and community involvement, the 2020 class of 40
Under 40 were selected from more than 600 nominations. Sandy and the rest of the
honorees will be recognized at an event on February 13 at the St. Louis Chase Park Plaza.
