Busey Named to American Banker’s Top-Performing Banks List

Busey is honored to be included on American Banker’s 2026 list of Top-Performing Banks with $10B to $50B in assets.

 

Busey ranked 36 on the list of 77 banks across the country and was among the top banks to preserve profitability in 2025 as interest rates fell. Lower funding costs helped highest-ranked banks maintain stronger net interest margins than the broader industry.

 

The selected banks were ranked based on their three-year average return on average equity (ROAE) using year-end 2025 data. On average, the net interest margin for all banks in the tranche was 3.35%, compared with 3.88% among the top 10 banks.

 

The list was created using the S&P Global Market Intelligence data compiled and analyzed by the consulting firm Capital Performance Group (CPG).
