Busey Associates Named to 40 Under 40 & 20 Under 40 Lists
Busey is pleased to announce five of our associates have been recognized with prestigious 40 Under 40 and 20 Under 40 awards!
- Emily Corum and Anish Mehta are named among the 2021 class of Forty Under 40 by The News-Gazette’s Central Illinois Business magazine in Champaign, IL.
- Brett Petersen has been named to this year’s list of 20 Under 40 by The Pantagraph in Bloomington, IL.
- Joe Cecil is among the recipients of the 40 Leaders Under Forty list by Peoria Magazine in Peoria, IL.
Associates were nominated by their peers and selected by a panel of judges based on achievements, experiences, innovations, leadership and community involvement.
Emily Corum
Leading our Community Relations team, Emily Corum, Assistant Vice President, Community Relations & Marketing Manager, supports the strategic charitable goals of the organization and continuous improvement of the associate experience at Busey. Through the efforts of Emily and her team, there has been an increase in volunteerism, charitable contributions and associate initiatives. Engaged with various local non-profits like the United Way and Champaign County CASA, Emily also lends her time to other organizations like the Champaign Park District where she serves as Chair of the Parks Foundation Board, Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club, CU Cradle 2 Career and Stephens Family YMCA.
Anish Mehta
As Vice President - Area Manager, Anish Mehta is responsible for facilitating and achieving sales productivity and leadership goals within the Champaign region. He is also responsible for coaching and mentoring Service Managers and service center associates to achieve these goals. Anish is actively involved in supporting many aspects of his community, including his interest in community reinvestment and development programs. He has also volunteered with the University of Illinois Autism Awareness program and worked with organizations such as The Illinois Marathon, Big Brother Big Sisters Rantoul, Champaign County Economic Development Corporation and Mahomet Area Youth Club.

Brett stands out as a hardworking mentor and is always thinking of new ways to engage his team, including starting a book club which focuses on furthering their professional and personal development. He also leads and supports Busey’s partnership with the State Farm® Goldtimers and is a regular monthly guest on the WJBC radio show, Money and Markets.

Since joining Busey Wealth Management in 2017, Joe Cecil, Vice President - Private Client Manager, has led by example with an infectious energy and passion for helping others. He is also a leader outside of Busey, donating his time and talent to various organizations in the Peoria area, including the United Way. Joe also volunteers with the American Cancer Society in the North Central Region, specifically with its Road to Recovery program, and he currently serves as a Board Member and Treasurer for the Better Business Bureau serving Central Illinois in Peoria.
