Busey Associates Named to "Forty Under 40" 2020

Busey is pleased to congratulate the associates who were awarded the prestigious Forty Under 40 award.

Andy Nelson and Carrie Wells are among the 2020 class of Forty Under 40 by The News-Gazette’s Central Illinois Business magazine.

All associates were nominated by their peers and selected by a panel of judges based on achievements, experiences, innovations, leadership and community involvement.  Andy and Carrie will be featured in the October/November issue of Central Illinois Business magazine.

As SVP, Regional Credit Officer, Andy Nelson plays a pivotal role in developing sound new borrower relationships, monitoring the portfolios and associated risk, as well as assuring systems are kept current and accurately reflect portfolio risk. As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, Andy has played a crucial role in ensuring valued community members obtained critical financial support through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). In addition to his work at Busey, Andy supports numerous local organizations—including Eastern Illinois Foodbank, Champaign County CASA, Crisis Nursery, CU at Home, Salt & Light and Illinois Coaches vs. Cancer—and volunteers at his children’s school and serves on the Champaign Unit 4 School District Finance Committee.

Carrie Wells is AVP, Creative Services Manager for Busey—a multi-faceted position that requires intense technical knowledge, attention to detail, accountability, communication and teamwork. She is a member of Busey’s United Way employee campaign committee and is also actively involved in the Champaign-Urbana community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Well Experience Inc., a nonprofit that supports the holistic growth, healing, resiliency, empowerment and restoration of minority women, girls and teens. Earlier this year, Carrie put her seamstress skills to work, making nearly 1,000 masks for medical personnel, front-line workers and fellow associates and families across Champaign-Urbana. She also created—and starred in—a video instructing Busey associates how to make a DIY no-sew face mask.
