Routing Number Retirement

As Busey grows, it is necessary to retire certain routing numbers that were inherited through past acquisitions in order to comply with federal guidelines. We are committed to ensuring your banking transactions are not interrupted. If you are concerned about the future retirement of a routing number, please contact your banker or support team

Once a routing number is retired, transactions using it will not reach Busey, meaning we cannot view or process the transactions. Please contact your banker to discuss extended transition plans, if needed. Please confirm that your checks, deposits, wire transfers and scheduled transactions include Busey's current transaction details:

Bank Name: Busey Bank
Routing Number: 071102568

Why Are Routing Numbers Being Retired?

Federal guidelines limit the number of routing numbers a financial institution may maintain. To stay in compliance with these guidelines and to support long‑term growth, Busey is retiring outdated routing numbers. This effort allows us to:

  • Meet federal routing number requirements
  • Reduce operational and administrative complexity
  • Minimize long‑term risk
  • Prepare our systems for future innovation and growth

Following completion of this initiative, Busey will operate using our principal routing number (071102568) as well as a limited set of numbers used for specialized services.

What This Means for You

If your account uses a routing number that is being retired, certain transactions may need to be updated so they continue without interruption. These may include:

  • Direct deposits (payroll, government benefits, pension payments)
  • ACH debits and credits
  • Wire instructions
  • Automatic bill payments
  • Checks
  • Tax payments and refunds filed with the IRS or state agencies

Many customers will see little or no impact, but some action may be required depending on how your account is used.

How Busey Is Supporting You

We understand that changing account information can feel disruptive. Our goal is to make this process as simple and seamless as possible. Support may include:

  • Advance notice before a routing number is retired
  • Complimentary checks for consumer customers and discounted check products for business customers
  • Guidance to help identify transactions using an outdated routing number
  • Templated communications for business customers to share with vendors and clients
  • Reminders to update IRS and tax‑related records
  • Final reminder messages prior to retirement dates

Our teams are following a consistent communication approach using email, postal mail, website updates, ACH notifications, and direct outreach.

What You May Need to Do

If you receive a notification from Busey regarding a routing number update, please review it carefully and take action as outlined. Next steps may include:

Personal Banking Customers Business Clients
Update your routing number with employers or payment providers using the Busey Bank routing number (071102568).
Update your routing number with vendors and customers using the Busey Bank routing number (071102568).
Contact anyone with whom you have established automatic payments or deposits and advise them to update your bank name and routing number to ensure uninterrupted service.
Verify that your vendors and customers who send ACH payments or initiate ACH debits to your account have updated their records with the Busey routing number. Contact your Treasury Management banker for a list of vendors and recent transactions still using the outdated routing number.
Destroy all unused documents using the outdated routing number (checks, deposits slips, etc.), or visit one of our service centers and we will help you properly dispose of your documents.
Please update your check stock, including deposit slips, to include your bank name and current routing number (071102568). To reduce the risk of fraud, destroy all unused documents with the outdated routing number (checks, deposits slips, etc.).

If you are unsure whether your account is affected or need assistance making updates, Busey associates are ready to help.

As tax season approaches, don't forget to update your routing number with the IRS to avoid any potential tax processing delays. And remember - always follow fraud best practices! Busey will not contact you requesting your account information or access, and neither will the IRS or your vendors. Visit busey.com/fraud for more fraud prevention tips.

Timing of Routing Number Retirements

Routing numbers are being retired in phases over multiple years. This phased approach allows time for changes to be completed and helps minimize disruption. Customers associated with each routing number were notified at the initial bank conversion, and will be notified again prior to specific numbers being retired. Our general approach is to mail and email customers more than 30 days before the retirement date and then communicate a final notice two weeks before the number is officially retired.

Scheduled Routing Number Retirements

  • February 27, 2026 | Tulsa National Bank and Town and Country
  • March 31, 2026 | Merchants & Manufacturers Bank
  • June 30, 2026 | Canyon Community
  • December 31, 2026 | Farmers & Stockman, Glenview State Bank, and Bank of Edwardsville
  • 2027 (Date TBD) | CrossFirst Bank

Some retiring routing numbers may require an extended timeline or adjustments. If there are any delays, we will communicate changes with impacted customers.
